Welcome to the January 2017 edition of Tiger eye! >
We are excited about the next 12 months and are already full steam ahead. 2016 was a year of two halves at Tiger – pre Brexit vote, permanent hiring levels were down on what we expected and post Brexit the reverse was true.
That said, temp requirements were very strong all year. The strength of the secretarial recruitment market in quarters three and four saw us increasing our Consultant headcount markedly and we are looking to hire further Consultants throughout 2017.
Over the last 12 months, both our West End and City offices have continued to flourish and have seen Tiger accepted onto a large number of new Preferred Supplier Lists, in both the City and the West End. These include top Management Consultancies, Investment Banks, Private Equity Houses, Executive Search Firms and Insurance Companies.
Our international business has also gone from strength to strength and at the time of writing, we are recruiting Candidates for Clients based in Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Locarno, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Kuwait City. Our Clients are looking for the very best support staff and our far-reaching tentacles help us source quality Candidates, some of whom are based locally and some of whom are relocating. I foresee continued expansion of our international offering in 2017.
2016 also saw the creation of Tiger Private. Whilst we have always recruited private PAs and Private Household staff, the volume of new briefs coming through has necessitated a dedicated division to make sure we are able to provide the highest level of service to Clients in this area. The division is being run by Laura Glendenning, who has many years of experience in the Private Household space.
As we look ahead to 2017, we can take great heart from the surprisingly healthy state of the secretarial recruitment market given the wider political issues we saw in 2016 and will continue to see over the next 12 months. There seems to be a real appetite to “just do business” and “get on with it”. Whether this is down to Britishness, extra competition or globalisation, I don’t know, but it has given businesses extra confidence to hire and invest whereas in the past, the opposite may have happened. Tiger in 2017 >
Our plans are exciting. We will continue to invest heavily in our marketing and advertising and our first big project will be to redevelop the Tiger website to further improve the experience for both Clients and Candidates.
It is expected that our headcount will grow and we have a clear plan on how to manage this to protect the “boutique” nature and high service levels that Tiger are renowned for. In short, our area of expertise is high quality secretarial and administrative recruitment and whilst we do recruit around the periphery, we have no ambition to venture into different and unrelated verticals.
That said, we look forward to developing Tiger International and Tiger Private and over the next five years, don’t be surprised to see new Tiger offices opening so that we can offer an even more targeted service to our Clients based nationally and internationally.
In 2016, we looked at how we could embrace technology to improve our efficiency and to further enhance our position as a “market leader”. We created and then introduced a system of online timesheets which many of you might be familiar with. We redeveloped our “app” to allow candidates to update their availability in “real-time”. In 2017, we have further plans to incorporate technology to make sure that our Clients and Candidates receive the very best service. Watch this space!
News on the block! >
In 2016, Tiger ran a number of events to raise money for The Rob George Foundationand Headcase Cancer Trust. One of our most memorable events was the Tiger Olympics that took place in August. It was a great success and the feedback was so positive that this will now be run as a yearly event.
In 2017, we will be raising money for Jo’s Trust, a charity who support and raise awareness for people with cervical cancer. In addition, Tiger Recruitment have signed up to “Inspiring the Future” and our Consultants and wider team will be freely giving their time and expertise to advise and help those most in need.
Where is Tiger’s salary survey?! This has always formed an integral part of our January newsletter to date, but this year we have decided to create a far more in-depth survey for our Clients. Hopefully, you have received a copy? If you haven’t, then please email firstname.lastname@example.org or download a copy here.
Our unique marketing and branding at Tiger is a critical component to the way we work. Why? Because it means that we are able to attract the very best Candidates in the market to Tiger. Tiger’s marketing team is now the biggest it has ever been with four of the Tiger Team playing an essential part in developing new ideas and improving on old ones. This hard work has led to record numbers of people clicking on our website each month. In November 2016, over 30,000 people visited the Tiger website!
In 2016, Tiger created an initiative called Chef’s tables. Every quarter we have formed a relationship with a Michelin starred restaurant who have provided us with a private room, delicious food and wine/champagne. It has given us the opportunity to invite many of our candidates and clients to an evening hosted by Tiger. It has been a great forum for everyone to discuss the challenges they face in the secretarial market and as importantly an opportunity to have a really fun and informal evening. If you would like to come to one of our chef’s tables events in 2017, please email email@example.com.
Our CEO/Founder, David Morel, has continued to quote and write extensively in the press. He and the Tiger team even made it on to Swiss/French news talking about portfolio workers. In 2016, David was asked to contribute regularly to the Undercover Recruiter and other publications. Please find some useful links below:
At Tiger, we have built up a reputation for being able to source top calibre Private PAs and Private Household staff. The volume of requirements in this area has increased to the extent that at the end of 2016 we set up Tiger Private to specifically focus on our Private Clients.
This division is being headed up by Laura Glendenning who has a great deal of private experience herself as both a Private PA/Lifestyle Manager and more recently as a Chief of Staff.
We specialise in recruiting for the following positions: Chief of Staff, Private PA, Country Manager, Estate Manager, Lifestyle Manager, House Manager, House Attendant, Housekeeper, Butler and Chef.
Our Clients are based in London, outside of London (particularly the home counties) and internationally. Please contact Laura directly should you have any needs on the private side at firstname.lastname@example.org.
