Hiring An Office Assistant

WHAT WILL AN OFFICE ASSISTANT DO FOR YOU?

An Office Assistant position will vary depending on the nature of the business but generally speaking, this role is more common in SMEs and will support an Office Manager in the running of the administrative function in the office. This role could be incredibly broad, from manning the reception function through to accounts and bookkeeping support, to maintenance of the filing systems and office supplies. 

The Office Assistant will be on hand to assist with the binding and collation of presentations for senior executives, be responsible for maintaining the client database and cover colleague email addresses in periods of absenteeism. They might also assist with occasional dictation and preparation of correspondence.

THE OFFICE ASSISTANT RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Once we’ve met and understood the full brief from you, we’ll set about shortlisting candidates from a variety of sources: namely online advertising, candidate referrals and database searching. From there, our face-to-face interview will uncover key behavioural and character traits that we’ll use to compile their profile. This is in addition to MS Office skills which we test in our offices as standard.

We’re looking for a diverse and wide-ranging skillset at interview, as well as the ability to stay calm during periods of high pressure. A strong Office Assistant will have fantastic multi-tasking abilities, know how to prioritise and be resourceful in the face of adversity.
