Hiring An Events Manager

An Events Manager role is often fast-paced, dynamic and varied. For these reasons, it’s also a highly sought after position. But the Events Manager is equally the go-to person and first point of contact for the event which means it is incredibly demanding too. From planning, to research, to dealing with third parties, Events Managers frequently find themselves in high-pressure situations and will be very familiar with uncompromising deadlines.

Depending on the size of the event, they might manage an events team or simply run whole events independently. Because there are so many components to consider in the running of an event however, it’s quite common for them to have an Events Assistant who’ll assist them with more administrative tasks.

The Events Manager will often sit within the marketing team and share a responsibility in representing the business’s brand to clients. With this in mind, the management of the brand and the way it is represented is crucial – from the branded merchandise, to the presentations, the events signage and the stationary.

A strong Events Manager is worth their weight in gold. Their skillset is incredibly unique not least because they’ll be used to working at an incredibly fast pace and managing competing deadlines – all the while staying on top of their to-do list and keeping calm under pressure.

The recruitment process will comprise traditional advertising methods but we will also undertake extensive search and referral activity. Post-interview, we’ll conduct thorough reference checks, not always solely from their employers: we may deem it relevant to speak to former subordinates and clients as well. We’ll talk to their referees about their ability to negotiate plus ask for examples of their resourcefulness in challenging situations.

Our Events Manager candidates will be confident project managers with an excellent eye for detail. In addition to fantastic communication skills, we expect a strong Events Manager to have a high level of proficiency with MS Office. They’ll also be strong budgeters and commercially savvy.

A successful Events Manager works well individually as well as part of the team. They’ll motivate, inspire, lead, and even mentor Events Assistants where applicable. Once we’ve understood the role requirements, we’ll ensure we source the right candidates who will succeed, thrive and grow with your business.
